The Space
Germania Bank Building

In 1966, Maisel bought the spectacular 36,000 square foot Germania Bank building, a Beaux-Arts structure that was recently given landmark status. Located on the corner of Spring Street and the Bowery, today it has an enthralling and mysterious presence. Maisel lives, works and shoots in the 1898 building that is itself a work of public art, covered with graffiti, one-sheets, cryptic messages that speak to an unseen audience.
