About the Event
On
May 26, friends of University Settlement had the rare opportunity to
visit the private, hidden-away studios of two great Lower East Side
artists, Hale Gurland and Jay Maisel. The evening included a cocktail
party and exhibit of photography and sculpture at the Faya House
Gallery on Elizabeth Street, and private tours of the Gurland Studio,
located in the former Erste Warshawer Synagogue, and the Maisel Studio
located in the former Germania Bank building.
